Redefining Heart Health: Moving Beyond the Old Standard of Care

Do you have a family history of heart attacks? Have you or a loved one had a stroke and are scared of having another? Have you been told that these events are inevitable and untreatable? We’re here to show you that there is a better way!

In the realm of heart health, traditional approaches often rely on generalized guidelines that fail to account for the individual needs of each patient. The current standard of care, rooted in one-size-fits-all methodologies, overlooks the critical importance of personalized risk assessment and prevention. At the Heart Attack and Stroke Prevention Center of Central Ohio, we recognize that no two patients are alike, and we're pioneering a new standard of care that prioritizes individualized attention and proactive prevention, allowing you to live free and confidently without the worry of another event.

The Flaws of the Current Standard:

Under the current standard of care, patients often undergo routine procedures like stress tests such as an echocardiogram, along with assessments such as the Framingham Risk Score and Carotid Artery Doppler Ultrasound Exam. Although these tests are valuable, they offer limited insights into your true risk of heart attack or stroke.

The Framingham Risk Score is given based on age, gender, total cholesterol, tobacco use, HDL (“good cholesterol”), systolic blood pressure, and diabetes, but fails to examine the actual presence of disease.

Stress tests typically detect blockages only when they reach 70% or greater, leaving many individuals with significant underlying issues undetected. Shockingly, research shows that a staggering 86% of heart attacks stem from blockages of less than 65%, emphasizing the inadequacy of traditional diagnostic methods. Under this standard of care, the reality is that 50% of the time, the first symptom of cardiovascular disease is a heart attack, stroke, or death.

This may sound hopeless, but we assure you that there is a better way. These standard of care tests and risk assessments aren’t looking for actual presence of disease. Cardiovascular disease doesn’t happen overnight, it slowly develops over decades. Let’s look for those signs of disease in the early stages, so we can reverse and get you on a path to prevention.

Embracing the New Standard:

Our commitment to revolutionizing heart health care lies in our adoption of the new standard of care—a paradigm shift that places you at the forefront of your journey toward optimal health. We follow the BaleDoneen Method to delve deep into your unique personalized disease status and develop a plan for stabilization and/or reversal. This methodology allows us to take preventive measures for your health, ensuring that you will never have a heart attack or stroke.

  • The BaleDoneen Method: We use the BaleDoneen Method to explore the root causes of arterial disease. This preventive approach allows us to identify potential threats to cardiovascular health before they escalate into heart attacks or strokes. Utilizing their comprehensive root cause analysis, we evaluate all sources of inflammation. By screening for these factors and more, we assess your inflammatory status, and use that information to guide and empower you to make informed lifestyle adjustments to curb inflammation and safeguard your cardiovascular health.

  • CIMT testing: The Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT) test is a highly accurate method for detecting arterial blockages with 98.6% precision. This non-invasive ultrasound procedure allows us to assess the health of the arteries and identify any potential signs of atherosclerosis early on.
